This artifact can be viewed online or as seen above in a smaller format. This PowerPoint presentation accompanied my blog posting from Introduction to Adult Education, titled Digital Natives vs Digital Idiots, which can be accessed on the blog tab of this site.

Digital Natives & Digital Immigrants; The Debate Continues
Course: Introduction to Adult Education
In Class Presentation: Digital Native/Digital Immigrant Debate This artifact is in my portfolio because the creation of this presentation helped me write a short opinion piece on Prensky's (2001) article, Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants. However, more importantly it represents my introduction to the world of blogging, something I would not have ventured into had it not been an essential part of my studies. What's more, the (unpublished) blog I set up for the course was not only an authentic task, but it also led to the development of my own published blog site on WordPress. Technically challenging at times, this site was originally designed to house my photography, but instead became home to items of my learning, as it was a place that was easily accessible for the presentation and viewing of my assignments. Additionally, the blog that went along with this PowerPoint presentation was my first rather opinionated piece of writing in response to Prensky's article, Digital Native, Digital Immigrant (2001). As a long time user of technology his viewpoint on the subject surprisingly caused a passionate reaction from me, as I did not concur with much of what he had written. |
